When a New Belt Is Not Enough

A failed belt is sometimes the symptom, not the root cause. Installing another belt without checking the rest of the CVT can lead to another failure—especially on high-powered or modified machines.

  • Repeated belt failures
  • Burning-belt smell
  • Poor acceleration or excessive RPM
  • Harsh or delayed engagement
  • Clutch noise or vibration
  • Belt slipping
  • Problems after larger tires or performance modifications
  • Clutch-kit installation and setup

What Can Affect Belt Life?

Belt life can be affected by clutch wear, clutch calibration, heat, airflow, alignment, tire size, vehicle load and how the machine is used. We consider those factors before recommending parts.

If you have changed tire size, tune, engine power or clutch components, mention it when scheduling.

RZR & Can-Am CVT Service

We commonly see these concerns on Polaris RZR and Can-Am Maverick/X3 machines, but we can evaluate other UTV platforms as well.

Clutch & Belt FAQ

Should I keep replacing belts if they fail repeatedly?

No. Repeated failure is a reason to inspect the clutches and operating conditions instead of treating the belt as the only problem.

Can larger tires affect clutching?

Yes. Larger or heavier tires can change load on the drivetrain and may require the overall setup to be evaluated.

Do you install clutch kits?

Yes. We can install clutch components and evaluate whether the kit makes sense for the machine’s current setup and intended use.
